New International Version

The New International Version boasts itself to be the most read version of the Word of God in the entire world. I've heard however those numbers have been inflated. Either way, I sadly have to ask, would you want to read something that the world loves? As the saying goes: What is popular, isn't always right, and what is right isn't always popular.

The New International Version has made so many "spin-off" Bibles in their name, that it would be very difficult to keep up with all the different "types" and editions. Therefore, On this page I am speaking of the General, or basic New International Version. With each new Edition of the NIV, the corruption within does not lessen, but sadly increases.

The New International Version, seems indeed to be prominent in the homes of people all over the world. Yet at the same time, it is also most known for it's corruptions and mistakes. Many of those who will refuse to say that all Modern Versions of the Bible are Corrupt, will say nonetheless that the New International version and its "spin-offs" are corrupt.

Indeed . . . the New International Version, completely removes Seventeen (17) verses from the Word of God. More are removed, but demoted to a footnote. Let it be known, footnotes are not the same, causing one to doubt whether it truly is part of the Word of God, footnotes are deemed as an "afterthought," and also they are separate from the Word of God itself. It isn't the same to have things taken out of God's Word, but then added to a footnote. God's Words should not be so sorely demoted! The New International Version also removes a total of more than 64,576 words!

Indeed the NIV is full of corruptions and horrible changes, omissions, and additions. Below are a few verses compared, along with a description as to why the changes in those verses in particular, are truly a change or watering down of the Truth.

Jesus came . . . Why?
Verse King James Version New International Version
Luke 9:56 "For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village." "and they went to another village."
Matthew 18:11 "For the Son of man is come to save that which is lost." (OMITTED)

In those two verses, the person reading the New International Version, is kept from knowing from His own Words, just Why Jesus Christ of Nazareth came to this Earth! We see one of the verses in which the NIV decides they prefer not being in the Word of God, by omitting it.

Do Sinners Need to Repent?
Verse King James Version New International Version
Matthew 9:13 "But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." "But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Reading the New International Version, you get two deceptions here. One, we don't hear that Jesus has come to call sinners to repentance. Two, the NIV changes "that" to "this." Did you see that subtle change? It changes the meaning honestly. The King James Bible shows that Jesus is telling them to learn what He means by what He said in the verse before. The New International Version makes Jesus tell them to learn what He means by "I desire mercy, not sacrifice." These are two quite different meanings!

For Whom was Jesus Sacrificed?
Verse King James Version New International Version
1 Corinthians 5:7 "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:" "Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeastas you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed."

Reading from the New International version, we are not encouraged that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, was sacrificed for us! Instead, we only know that He was sacrificed. Try being told that over and over again, and you will see the difference. The King James speaks of Jesus laying His Life down for us, while the New International simply speaks of Christ dying.

What Exactly Do They Believe?
Verse King James Version New International Version
John 6:47 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." "I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life."

Truly, with all the beliefs in this world, what exactly does one believe in order to have everlasting life? This omission in the New International Version doesn't just attack anything about God's Word, but Salvation itself!

Was Joseph really Jesus' Father?
Verse King James Version New International Version
Luke 2:33 "And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." "The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him."

This world already so adamantly denies the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus, even mocking it so many times in jest. We truly do not need a Bible that will help them along by calling Joseph the father of Jesus our Saviour!

What About Healing?
Verse King James Version New International Version
Mark 3:15 "And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils." "and to have authority to drive out demons."

I was once witnessing to someone, and she asked if I could heal her through the power of Jesus. Then someone came right up to her and I and told her, "Even he can't do that!" She was devastated and believed the other guy no matter what I had to say afterward. I can see how that person can use the NIV to tell someone that we believers have no power (through the Holy Spirit working in us) to heal in the name of Christ Jesus our Saviour.

What was That About Forgiveness?
Verse King James Version New International Version
Mark 11:26 "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgiven your trespasses." (OMITTED)

Forgiveness is such a very important subject! Should the Bible leave out such an important warning, so as to be sure the person knows that to be forgiven we must also forgive others the same way God for Jesus' sake forgives us? No, it most certainly should not!

Is the Fulness of the Earth, God's?
Verse King James Version New International Version
1 Corinthians 10:28 "But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof:" "But if anyone says to you, This has been offered in sacrifice, then do not eat it, both for the sake of the man who told you and for conscience' sake"

Why should we not eat it? Because the earth is the Lords, and the fulness thereof! That is why we pray before we eat, to God. We thank Him for the food we receive, because He created the Earth, and whatever good we receive such as food, we should thank and praise God and God alone for it!

What About the Others?
Verse King James Version New International Version
Matthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." "But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,"

We have to ask in the NIV, what do we do with those who curse us, hate us, and despitefully use us? Truly we do as what the Word of God really says and we bless them, do good to them, and pray for them! Amen!

With this small selection of verses, we see that the NIV changes some very important doctrines, and truths in the Word of God! There are so many more changes made, the above is good enough of a sample. We have to remember though, always, that even one change like that . . . corrupts the whole Word of God! One ounce of leaven, leavens the whole lump. One lie, corrupts the Word, one single corruption . . . and that alone should make us see the NIV for what it is!
